Visited Viscounts on Saturday night, it was late when we arrived, and it was fully booked, we had no booking, but when we pleaded our case and were willing to wait, they accommodated us. We were directed to the bar where we had a drink quarter bottle wine L3.60 (€4.44) and pint of ale L3 (€3.70) , we were offered menus, very friendly efficient staff. Our order was taken promptly and our wait wasn’t long. A waiter came put our drinks on a tray and showed us to our table. To start I had Strangford Lough mussels @L6.25 (€7.70) a generous portion, medium sized and very tasty the sauce was excellent, the distinct taste of white wine, a little chilli, and herbs. Yum. My partner had Viscounts sticky baby back ribs @ L5.95 (€7.34) again delicious and the meat latterly fell from the bone. For mains I had pan fried fillets of Monkfish with parma ham @ L16.95 (€20.90) delicious well seasoned served with dauphinoise potato with gruyere cheese, Dijon mustard sauce. My partner had Duo of Kettyle Irish lamb, shoulder and cutlet, which came with crused potatoes and peas, mint jus. L16.95 (20.90) again delicious. To follow we shared a cheese board L4.95 (€6.10). To accompany our meal we had a bottle of French Pinot Noir L18 (22.20) A most excellent meal couldn’t fault anything, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent service, fantastic food. This restaurant is a gem of a find, it was so busy, I observed a hen party group and at least two birthday party groups, but this didn’t phase the staff one little bit. This is a must when we go to the north again.
