Northern Ireland has such a variety of festival fun throughout the summer that it can be a daunting task to try and pick out the events that are worth going to. We’ve sifted through all that’s on offer in 2014, and picked out some of the finest cuisine festivals which will get your tummy growling in anticipation. On top of live cooking demonstrations, all of these events boast live music, markets or entertainment to keep you occupied when you’re appetite is satisfied.
1. Dalriada Festival of Sport, Music and Fine Food: 13th - 19th July 2014
Dalriada is one of Northern Ireland’s biggest cultural and food festivals with fun for all the family. Motivated by a love of country, this week-long shindig brings together Ireland and Scotland, and showcases all the traditions they have in common in the areas of food, culture, sport and music. Located in the historic Glenarm Castle Estate and its beautiful walled estate in Antrim, you won’t be sorry you visited to see what all the fuss is about. 2. Flavours of the Foyle: 26th - 27th July 2014
Derry - Londonderry hosts this fabulous seafood affair over the course of a weekend in the stunning setting of the Guildhall Square, and entry is free. This event has a market feel to it and features lots of live cooking demonstrations with well-known chefs. Make a weekend of it and be sure to bring your appetite and your notepad. 3. The Festival of Fish: 23rd - 26th August 2014
Another fishy event that will get your taste buds going! 4. Larne Loves Food Festival: 27th September 2014
This one-day event is for food aficionados, so be sure to get down to Larne town centre and market yard to witness this town’s appreciation of good wholesome food. 5. Belfast Restaurant Week: 4th - 11th October 2014
