The Northern Whig restaurant
2-10 Bridge Street, Belfast
This bold, dynamic hotspot has plenty to offer. With its fantastic food, fabulous cocktails and sumptuous surroundings the Northern Whig has it all - and then some!
Set in the stylish Cathedral Quarter, the Northern Whig is housed in the old Northern Whig and Newsletter newspaper office. The building itself has been part of the bustling city centre’s life and streets since 1821; it was originally built as a hotel and was also a gentleman’s club at one time.
With Communist statues from Soviet-era Prague; luxurious chandeliers and impossibly high ceilings, the Northern Whig is quite an experience. The award-winning restaurant serves cosmopolitan cuisine to a high-stepping city crowd. The Northern Whig boasts an extensive cocktail list, including a plethora of in house creations.

After confusion with waitress with the booking made and offer not available,we settled with the Christmas dinner. The plate that was put in front of us was massive, just about finished it but there was no room for dessert. Would have loved to have sampled one, always a next time. Will definitely be returning highly recommend both the food and service.

The pulled pork at this restaurant was absolutely delicious! It was really tender and flavoursome. The restaurant itself is really cosy and comfortable and staff are lovely. Great restaurant!

We went here on a steak meal. The service was quick and very efficient. It was early evening so was a bit quiet . But the rump steaks were great. Tender and tasty. Will definitely be back .
